Alex Napping are an Austin-based indie pop quartet that formed in September 2013 around vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Alex Cohen's bedroom recordings. Consisting of guitarist Adrian Haynes, bassist Tomas Garcia-Olano, and drummer Andrew Stevens, the band's first release, This Is Not A Bedroom, came out in September 2014 on Punctum Records, followed by the 2016 release of Trembles Part I & II, a collection of two singles existing in the universe of a short story written by Cohen.
The band have developed an impressive live set, pairing a tight rhythm section with complimentary guitars that delicately balance moments of reserve and those of charged release, while also capturing the dynamics and emotional rawness found on their records. In 2016, the band were featured as one of NPR Music's 100 Bands To Watch at SXSW 2016 and as one of Huw Stephen's (of BBC Radio 1) SXSW 2016 discoveries, fostering even more excitement for the band's next steps.
The band is currently finishing up their second LP. Alex Napping have shared the stage with Alvvays, Speedy Ortiz, Yellow Ostrich, Jessica Lea Mayfield, The Cave Singers, Alex G, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin and Night Moves.
